Two-choice assay for mouse

The Zantiks AD is set up to reward mice who nose poke in front of the visual image presented on the side screen.

The AD unit is set up with a side screen at the front of the chamber, set behind the food hopper and a two choice insert. Two laterally presented visual stimuli are presented one at a time, on the left and right hand sides of the screen. There is a food magazine insert set in front of the middle of the screen. Each time the mouse nose pokes (or, in effect, 'touches') the displayed visual stimulus the stimulus turns off and a pellet is delivered in the food magazine insert. The unit tracks each nose poke, in front of the visual stimuli, and into the food magazine insert.

This video recording was done in real-time. The visual stimulus is presented real-time in an overlay on the video (at 90 degrees clockwise), i.e. if the visual stimulus appears in the bottom left side of the video recording, it is being presented to the mouse laterally on the left hand side of the side screen. Conversely if it appears on the bottom right hand side of the video then it is being presented to the mouse laterally on the right hand side of the side screen (as illustrated below).
